"The class was excellent and highly informative. While the class did not “give me the answers” to the CASp test, it clearly showed me where my Accessibility weaknesses and strengths were. Your class was an invaluable study tool for me. I am sure if I had not taken your class, I would not have PASSED the CASp test"

Can I just attended 1 day or do I have to attend all 4 days?
Yes, attendance is required for all 4 days to receive a certificate of attendance as well as CAB and CASp CEU's. If CEU's and/or credits are not needed, you may register for the Academy and attend only those days you wish to attend or fits your schedule. There is no discount for this option. Is this class for more advanced people or can a beginner attend?
Anyone who registers may attend and there are no prerequisites or qualifications to attend. We do recommend that those who attend have a good understanding of the codes and standards related to accessibility. Experience in enforcement, design, construction is also good. We have limited staff and cannot attend all 4 days, can we switch personnel each day?
Due to the complexity of the subject matter, the Academy is designed to be taken from point A to point B. The material presented on one day is built upon on the next. For this reason, missing days is not recommended and switching staff is not possible. What are the qualifications of the instructors?
The instructors have more than 25 years of combined experience providing quality training in the field of accessibility for state and local governments and state agencies including State Universities and State Colleges, and private training at architectural and engineering. Additionally, both instructors have worked in city and county governments as inspectors, plans examiners, and building officials. Will I pass the CASp exam if I take the Academy?
The Academy will improve your knowledge of access related regulations, laws, and standards, but will not guarantee that you will pass the exam. I am planning on taking the CASp exam. Should I wait to take the Academy offered as close to the exam date as possible?
We recommend studying as much as possible before taking the Academy so that you can bring your questions to the Academy. We then recommend at least a couple of weeks after the Academy to clearly understand what you have learned before taking the exam. Everyone’s study habits are different so additions or reductions of study time may be appropriate. Is CalCasp affiliated in any way with a state agency?
No. CalCasp is a private company and is not affiliated with state agencies in any way. The Division of the State Architect is the agency that has direct responsibility and authority to administer the CASp exam. Can I still get a previous attendee discount?
The previous attendee discount is no longer available. You must register to attend each 4-Day Training Academy. |
I have just registered, now what?
You will receive a confirmation email. All of the information regarding the Academy is located on your member dashboard here. Log into the CalCasp website and look for the "Start Here" Video for the latest updates, reference documents, academy slides and take advantage of the Academy Discussion group for all of your questions. I already registered, can I get a refund?
Yes, please contact us at 1-800-582-6178 and review our Terms of Service What materials will be covered during the four-day Academy?
We cover many of the 21 areas identified in the Division of the State Architects “Examination Reference List” found in the Examination, Certification, and Practice Standards Handbook I am planning on taking the CASp Exam. Will you provide CASp exam sample questions to help us memorize the answers for the CASP exam?
No! We do not "teach'" for the CASp exam. This is not a CASp memorization prep course. We teach accessibility first and foremost so that those who attend our Academy have a better understanding of state and federal accessibility codes, standards, and regulations and are better prepared and informed in their profession. Our Academy is generally comprised of business owners, construction superintendents, government employees from planning, building, and engineering departments, architects and engineers, and an occasional attorney. A third to a half are considering taking the exam at some point and are using the Academy as one tool to further their knowledge and understanding. Many of our attendees have attended our Academy several times (many have joined us 4 times or more). What materials do you recommend I study most to have the greatest chance passing the CASp exam?
The 21 areas identified in the Division of the State Architects “Examination Reference List” found in the Examination, Certification, and Practice Standards Handbook. There are several hundred questions available in the pool that may be selected for the exam that are derived from the “Examination Reference List”. The questions are different on each closed book test. Will I get a Certificate?
Yes. Certificates are provided at the end of the fourth day for those that have completed the course. Does the registration fee include attendance to more than one 4-Day Academy during my 1-year membership?
No, your registration fee includes attendance to the current session of the 4-Day Training Academy and access for 1-year to all of the online courses, training materials and reference library. If you wish to attend more than one 4-Day Training Academy, you must register and pay the registration fee to attend each 4-Day Training Academy. |
